Katahdin Loop Trail Cross-Over Now Open

We received permission on last Friday to re-open the L&H Road, which had been plowed for a logging operation. This affects the Katahdin Loop Trail and the Pemadumcook Parkway Trail.

Beginning Friday, the grooming crew spent many hours pulling the snowbanks back into the road and grooming everything before the weekend riders arrived. We need a bit more snow to make it "Jo Mary Perfect" but it’s still pretty good by any other standard!

Now that it is open, the Katahdin Loop Trail (see map #1) officially start at our base on South Twin Lake and continues directly to ITS-86. The Katahdin Loop Trail is also known as the 109 Connector. Last years Katahdin Area Trail Map had the 109 symbol on that trail, but it was omitted from this year for reasons unknown. The Connector Trail we had been using will still be groomed (see map #9), including passing through our scenic Katahdin View area.

Also, grooming was postponed last night due to the severely dangerous cold conditions, but we are back on the trails Monday afternoon, evening and night. Enjoy!
